Jet Ski Wear Ring and Impeller Replacement, at Your Dock
Liquid Industries replaces jet ski wear rings and impellers at your dock or on your trailer anywhere in Broward and Palm Beach County. Wear ring replacement starts at $250 installed depending on model, with stainless upgrade rings available from $350, and most jobs are finished in a single visit. If your ski revs high but goes nowhere, this is almost certainly the page you need.
What a Wear Ring Actually Does
The wear ring is the plastic or stainless sleeve the impeller spins inside. The gap between impeller blade and ring is a few thousandths of an inch, and that tight clearance is what lets the pump build thrust. It is a sacrificial part by design. When a rock, shell, or piece of rope goes through the pump, the ring takes the damage instead of the pump housing. Cheap part, expensive job to ignore, because a scored ring bleeds thrust every time you squeeze the throttle.
The Symptoms Are Unmistakable
- RPM up, speed down. The engine spins to high revs but the ski will not get on plane or crawls at half its normal top speed.
- Cavitation. A rattling, gravel-in-a-blender sound from the pump, especially on hard acceleration.
- It started right after you sucked something up. Sand at the sandbar, a tow rope, shells in a shallow channel. The classic South Florida story.
- Weak hole shot with a healthy engine. If the engine sounds strong but thrust is missing, look at the pump before the engine.
The same symptoms can come from a damaged impeller, and the two are often replaced together since the pump is already open. We measure both and tell you what actually needs to change.
Straight Pricing
Wear ring replacement starts at $250 installed, with the exact figure depending on your model and how its pump comes apart. Stainless steel upgrade rings, which shrug off debris far better than stock plastic, start at $350 installed. Impeller replacement or reconditioning is quoted with the ring once we see blade condition. If the cause of your performance loss is not obvious, we run it through our diagnosis structure first: $200 call-out plus $200 per hour, $400 minimum per visit, credited toward an honest written finding. Full rates are on the pricing page.
Dock or Driveway, Your Choice
Pump work is well suited to mobile service. On the trailer in your driveway there is no surcharge, and dockside or on-yacht service adds $200 per watercraft. Either way we bring the tools, the ring, and the sealants, torque everything to spec, and water test before we leave. We do this for Sea-Doo, Yamaha WaveRunner, and Kawasaki pumps across the modern four-stroke era, roughly 2002 and newer; we do not take on older two-strokes, though we will happily give honest advice over the phone if you have one.
Serving the Coast from Hollywood to Jupiter
Shallow sandbars and busy inlets keep wear rings on our schedule year round. We are based in Pompano Beach and replace rings weekly in Boca Raton, where Lake Boca sandbar days feed the pump plenty of sand, and around the Boynton Inlet in Boynton Beach. For everything else your ski needs, from annuals to electrical work, see our jet ski service page or the Sea-Doo hub. Deeper pump damage, bearings and seals included, is covered on our jet pump rebuild page.
Wear Ring FAQs
How much does jet ski wear ring replacement cost?
From $250 installed depending on the model, at your dock or on your trailer. Stainless upgrade rings start at $350 installed. If an impeller is also damaged, we quote it before touching anything.
How do I know it is the wear ring and not the engine?
High RPM with low speed is the giveaway. An engine problem usually means low RPM; a pump problem means the engine revs freely while thrust disappears. If it is ambiguous, our diagnosis visit settles it with a written finding.
Is a stainless wear ring worth it?
If you ride shallow water, sandbars, or busy inlets, usually yes. Stainless resists debris scoring that would ruin a plastic ring, so it is a one-time upgrade for skis that live a South Florida life. We fit them from $350 installed.
Can you really replace a wear ring at my dock?
Yes. The pump comes off the back of the ski, so we can do the job on a lift, at a dock, or on the trailer. Trailer work has no surcharge; dockside or on-yacht service adds $200 per watercraft.
Revving high and going nowhere? Call (954) 816-4489 or Book Now and we will have you back at full speed, usually in one visit. Seven days, 9:00 to 5:00.
