WaveRunner Families We Service
Yamaha’s lineup is built around two engine platforms, and we work on both:
- EX and JetBlaster series. The TR-1 three-cylinder 1,049cc engine. Simple, reliable, and still deserving of clean oil and a healthy pump.
- VX series. Yamaha’s best seller, running the TR-1 HO in most trims. The most common WaveRunner at South Florida docks and the bulk of our Yamaha work.
- FX series. The full-size cruisers with the 1.8 liter HO or supercharged SVHO engine, including the FX Limited SVHO.
- GP series. The performance line, including the GP1800R and current GP SVHO and HO models.
- SuperJet. The stand-up. The current four-stroke SuperJet runs a TR-1 and gets the same attention as the runabouts.
Both the TR-1 and the 1.8 liter engines are known for longevity, but only when oil changes, plugs, and pump maintenance happen on schedule. In salt water, on a year-round calendar, that schedule matters more than anywhere else in the country.
What a WaveRunner Visit Includes
- Annual service, starting at $550 (subject to confirmation). Oil and filter change done properly through the dipstick tube with the engine warm, new spark plugs, intermediate housing and pump inspection, cooling flush check, battery test, corrosion treatment, and a full function check of throttle, steering, and RiDE.
- Diagnosis and repair: $200 call-out fee plus $200/hour, $400 minimum per visit. Warning buzzers, check-engine lights, no-start conditions, overheating alarms, poor top speed, and fuel system faults. We test, trace, and give you a straight answer.
- Pump and wear ring work. Cavitation, RPM up with speed down, and rope or debris ingestion are classic WaveRunner calls. We replace wear rings and impellers and rebuild pump components at your location.
- RiDE and control systems. We inspect and service the dual-throttle RiDE reverse system, cables, and electronic controls on models equipped with it.
- Pre-purchase inspections, starting at $400 (subject to confirmation). Compression, hour check, hull and pump condition, and a written report with photos before you buy a used WaveRunner.
Mobile Service, Four Ways
Dockside at your seawall or PWC lift. On the trailer at your home, which is ideal for pump work. At your marina, coordinated with the dockmaster so you do not have to be there. Or on your yacht, where we service tender-garage WaveRunners in place and report to your captain. Every visit ends with a detailed service report and photos, so you have a maintenance record that follows the ski.
Areas We Cover for WaveRunner Service
We run the coastal corridor from Hollywood to Jupiter across Broward and Palm Beach County. WaveRunner owners book us most often in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton, Manalapan, Riviera Beach and Singer Island, and Jupiter.
WaveRunner Service FAQs
How often does a WaveRunner need an oil change?
Yamaha specifies every 50 hours or 12 months, whichever comes first. In South Florida salt water we treat that as a hard limit, not a suggestion. Skipping it is the most common cause of shortened engine life we see.
My WaveRunner revs high but goes slow. What is wrong?
That is cavitation, and the usual cause is a worn wear ring, a damaged impeller, or debris in the pump. It is one of the most common calls we get and we typically repair it at your dock or on your trailer.
Do you work on supercharged SVHO engines?
Yes. We service FX SVHO and GP SVHO models, including plugs, oil service, cooling checks, and pump work. Supercharged engines run harder and hotter, so we hold them to a tighter maintenance schedule.
Can you service a WaveRunner kept on a yacht?
Yes. We regularly service WaveRunners stowed in tender garages or on chocks aboard yachts in Broward and Palm Beach County. We coordinate scheduling with your captain or crew and leave a full written report.
