Liquid Industries maintains and repairs Yamaha VX and EX series WaveRunners at your home, dock, or marina anywhere on the coast from Hollywood to Jupiter. The skis that do the real work
The VX has been the best-selling personal watercraft in America for years, and there is a reason. VX and EX models are the machines families actually ride: towing kids on tubes, running to the sandbar, logging more hours in a season than most flagship skis see in three. Rental fleets run them for the same reason. They are simple, efficient, and tough. But high hours in warm salt water is exactly the duty cycle that punishes skipped maintenance, and a ski that gets ridden every weekend deserves service on the same schedule it gets used.
TR-1 engine service, done right
Nearly every modern VX and EX runs Yamaha’s TR-1 High Output, a compact 1,049cc three-cylinder that is remarkably reliable when its oil stays fresh. It holds a small amount of oil for the work it does, which means the oil degrades faster than owners expect, especially in Florida heat with no off-season. Our TR-1 service uses Yamaha-spec marine oil and a genuine filter, and while we are aboard we check the plugs, pump, wear ring, battery, and bilge, then treat connections against salt corrosion. Older VX models with the previous MR-1 four-cylinder get the same care; we know both engines well.
Two ways to stay ahead of problems

Family skis, rental duty, and honest advice
Because VX and EX skis are often second machines or kid machines, they tend to be the most neglected skis on the dock. They are also the cheapest to keep healthy. A $350 oil change on schedule beats a starter replacement caused by a corroded, undercharged electrical system every time. If you run a pair of them, we service both in one visit. If you are buying a used one, we do pre-purchase inspections on skis for $400 before you hand over money. We focus on modern four-stroke watercraft, roughly 2002 and newer, so we do not take on older two-stroke skis, though we will give you a straight answer about one over the phone. We service Kawasaki and Sea-Doo on the same visit if your fleet is mixed.

How often does a TR-1 engine need an oil change in Florida?
Every 50 hours or once a year, whichever comes first. In South Florida skis run year round, so high-use VX and EX owners often reach the hour interval before the calendar does. The TR-1 holds a small volume of oil, which makes staying on schedule matter more, not less.
My EX gets rented out and rides hard. Should it be serviced more often?
Yes. Rental-duty and heavily shared skis should be treated by hours, not by the calendar. Plan on service at every 50 hours, keep the battery on a maintainer, and have the pump and wear ring inspected each visit, since tow sports and shallow-water use accelerate wear.
